The One - Part 2
The One, Part 2: Tell Them About Jesus
This will be a two-part series about reaching your world for Jesus.
God has intentionally placed people around us. We have an opportunity and responsibility to use our sphere of influence to share the message of Jesus and salvation.
Romans 1:16 (NIV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…
Point 1: Know the Message
Before we can share the Gospel, we need to know what the Gospel is.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NIV)
(3) For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
(4) that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
That’s our message.
Jesus died for our sins.
Jesus was buried.
Jesus rose again.
And through Jesus we can be saved.
Romans 10:9–10 (NIV)
(9) If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
(10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
We’re telling people:
There is hope.
Your sins can be forgiven.
Your past doesn’t have to define you.
You can know God.
You can have eternal life.
Jesus saves.
Never lose confidence in this message!
Point 2
Mark 5:19 (NIV)
…“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
I love that.
Go to your people.
Go to your sphere of influence.
And what should he tell them?
What God had done for him.
Tell them your story.
“Here’s where I was.”
“Here’s what Jesus did.”
“Here’s where I am today.”
Tell somebody what Jesus has done for you.
Point 3: Use the Opportunities God Gives You
John 1:46 (NIV)
…“Come and see.”
Sometimes evangelism is as simple as:
“Come with me.”
Come to church Sunday.
Sit with me.
Come to this event.
Come have coffee with me.
Let me pray for you.
Let me tell you what Jesus has done in my life.
We don’t need to force opportunities.
We need to use the opportunities God gives us.
Point 4: Plant the Seed and Trust God With the Results
You are not responsible for saving anybody.
Jesus saves people.
1 Corinthians 3:6–7 (NIV)
(6) I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.
(7) So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
That’s our job:
Love people.
Plant seeds.
And trust the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do.
Reach Your World
John 4:29 (NIV)
Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?
John 4:39 (NIV)
Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony.
Don’t miss that!
That woman reached her sphere of influence.
And many people came to believe.
That’s the vision!
Reach one.
But don’t stop with one.
Reach your family.
Reach your friends.
Reach your workplace.
Reach your neighborhood.
Reach the people God has placed around you.
Start with the one.
Then reach your world.
